DESCRIPTION: The City of Wilcox, Arizona is located in the Southeastern quarter of Arizona approximately 85 miles from Tucson. Performs complex engineering work while directing and coordinating activities of the gas, water, sewer utilities, cemetery, vehicle maintenance, street maintenance, solid waste disposal, parks, public buildings, golf course, and other support services of the Public Works and Services Department. Plans and directs a diverse program of public works design, new development coordination, construction and administration.
Duties: Acts as the authority responsible for policy recommendations and for coordinating all engineering activities, plans long-range goals, objectives, organizational structure and overall direction for the department. Reviews preliminary budgets, presents annual budget. Advises City Manager and other officials on technical engineering matters and assists in projecting a broad plan of public improvements. Acts in a project manager capacity for various City Projects, developing and controlling project schedules and reviewing and approving projects and duties. Trains and evaluates performance of supervisory personnel and review performance reports prepared by staff. Assists the City Manager with community economic development. Performs plan reviews as necessary for building department. Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the water, gas, sewer and sanitation utilities, cemetery, park and recreation, and golf course. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Extensive professional knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering, construction, maintenance, and public works administration and operations as normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor�s of Science Degree in related field. 10 years of progressively complex and responsible related work experience, which includes five years of administrative and managerial experience. A valid State Professional Engineering License at time of hire with the ability to obtain State of Arizona Professional Engineering License within one year of hire.
