POSITION: DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

AGENCY: Arlington County, Virginia

COMPENSATION: Salary: To $101,258. Retirement: Individual contributory plan and an optional tax deferred retirement savings account managed by ICMA; County contributes to both. Dependent Care Assistance Plan, and preferential rate at County child care center. Health Benefits: County pays 80% of premium, choice of 2 carriers, 3 tiers of coverage. Dental coverage and health care reimbursement account available. Coverage includes domestic partners. Life Insurance: $50,000, with option to purchase additional to a maximum of twice annual salary. Personal Development: Tuition assistance, professional training, reimbursement for conferences/seminars, as well as extensive health and fitness programs available. Leave: Eleven paid holidays plus generous vacation, sick and family leave provisions.

DESCRIPTION: Arlington County, VA (187,000 population) seeks innovative senior human resources professional to lead achievement/service oriented Department of 57 FTE; with $6 million budget in service to progressive County organization of 3000+ FTE. New Director challenged with opportunity to make comprehensive assessment of County HR needs toward completion of re-organization/re-engineering effort in establishment of a state-of-the-art HR Department. Commitment to principles of high performance organization and employee empowerment required. Strong leadership, open/sharing style with excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills essential. Ability to manage effectively in multi-cultural, diverse organization with strong AA/EEO commitment essential.
Bachelor's Degree in personnel, human resources or a related field; (experience in field may substitute for degree.) At least three years of senior management experience in human resources administration and a career demonstrating progressively responsible leadership positions involving broad administrative, supervisory, and managerial experience in human resource related areas.
