My name is Jim Nelson and I am looking for a position in city management, planning or economic development.

I am a seasoned executive having served as a city manager or planning director for 25 years. Having managed more than 200 major projects in every aspect of municipal government, including counties, the subjects of my work include budgeting, personnel management, downtown development, water systems, sewer systems, housing, parks, police and fire, current and long range planning, economic development and tourism to name a few. I have worked for 57 cities and 19 counties and several regional economic development organizations.

My experience with grants is second to none having secured more than $75 million from various state, federal and private sources. Last year I obtained commitments for grants equaling 10% of the city budget while another $1 million was expected for housing and transportation projects.
My education includes a BS with emphasis on Administration, a MRP in Planning, a MBA in business and a Fellowship in Public Administration. I have recently initiated a PhD in Business.
