$3,934 - $4,795 per month

DESCRIPTION: The City of Pullman (home of Washington State University) is accepting applications for the position of Police Lieutenant. Under the direction of the police chief, this position plans, organizes, directs, and controls assigned operational activities of the police department and serves as acting chief in the absence of the police chief. The successful candidate will coordinate assigned activities to assure efficient and effective functioning of the department; manage subordinate personnel by planning and organizing workloads and assignments and conducting performance evaluations; participate in the recruitment and selection of new hires; administer bargaining unit contracts; propose department budget and monitor department expenditures; represent the department before civic and community organizations; investigate allegations of officer misconduct; participate in labor negotiations as a management team member; write and submit grant proposals; and be able to perform all the duties and tasks of a police officer or police sergeant. Minimum qualifications include: A Bachelor�s degree is required (criminal justice, criminology, public administration, or related field preferred); two years experience as a police sergeant or one year experience as a police lieutenant.
