DESCRIPTION: The City of St. Charles (population 31,834) is a beautiful, historic and progressive community located along the Fox River in central Kane County,  35 miles west of downtown Chicago.  St. Charles is home to more than 1,750 businesses and is very proud of its historic downtown, regional mall and 715 acre industrial park. 

The City is seeking experienced municipal finance professionals for the position of Finance Director. The Director must possess excellent leadership and management skills as well as demonstrated oral and written communication abilities. The Director can expect to participate in a collaborative, team oriented management environment. The City seeks Candidates with a comprehensive knowledge of progressive public finance practices, short and long range financial planning experience,  TIF experience and budget preparation. 

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field is required; a CPA, MPA, MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred.  Candidates should have seven to ten years increasingly responsible experience in public finance management. Residency not required.
