COMPENSATION: TO APPLY: � Supervise, train, evaluate, and participate in the hiring, discipline, and termination of accounting department personnel. � Manage the accounts payable, billing and customer accounts, accounts receivable, payroll and project accounting. � Manage the cash management including maintaining records of deposits, perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, King County funds and cash accounts ensuring interest is correctly posted to the various funds. � Maintain District general ledger and journal entries for: cash transfers, fund transfers, fixed asset depreciation, interest income and expenses, prepaid items, and adjusting entries as necessary. � Produce financial statements with the State Auditor�s office prior to State mandated deadlines. � Prepare all year-end and closing entries and prepare the year-end financial statements and schedules. � The Controller will assist the Business Services Director in preparing the District�s budget and financial statements including preparation for the District�s annual state audit. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting,
business administration or public administration is required. A Master's degree
or CPA is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess 7 to 10 years of
experience overall with approximately 4 or more years in a comparable public
sector agency with at least 3 to 5 years in a supervisor role. The successful
candidate must have a valid Washington State driver license and have the ability
to be bonded and insured. � Proficient in the business aspects of water utility operations. � Knowledge of Springbrook accounting software or other similar accounting software programs. � Proficient in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. � Proficient or familiar with the Washington State BARS accounting system. � Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software. Located in
southeast King County, just 45 minutes south of Seattle, Washington, Covington
Water District has a service area of approximately 53 square miles and provides
water to the cities of Covington, Maple Valley, and Black Diamond, as well as
unincorporated areas of King County. The District has experienced rapid growth
and expects that development activity will remain brisk for the remainder of
