DESCRIPTION: Lewis County, population 71,539, was established in 1845 and is located in southwestern Washington, halfway between Seattle and Portland, Oregon. Residents of Lewis County have easy access to major urban centers and the area is considered one of the Northwest's best outdoor playgrounds.

Reporting to the Board of Commissioners, the Public Works Director/County Engineer leads a department with 149 FTE�s, a 2010 budget of $45,699,432, and six main divisions: Administration, Engineering Services, Traffic, Maintenance & Operations, Real Estate Services, and Solid Waste.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor�s degree in civil engineering or related field, and five years professional civil engineering experience, including five years of progressively responsible management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  A valid driver�s license is required.  Must meet qualifications for registration as a Professional Engineer with Washington State Board of Registration, or by the technical board of another state, with the ability to obtain Washington Registration within one year of employment.
