DESCRIPTION: Broward
County Water and Wastewater Services is searching for a professional, dynamic,
and experienced individual to fill the position of Director of Water and
Wastewater Operations. Broward County Water and Wastewater Services owns and
operates a retail and regional Water and Wastewater utility for Broward County,
in which the city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida is located. Broward County Water
and Wastewater Services is an aggressive and goal oriented organization,
achieving operating efficiencies, which place it among the best performers in
the utility industry nationwide (USA). Annual revenues exceed $70 million and
the current capital program exceeds half a billion dollars over the next five
years. This executive position reports to and serves at the pleasure of the
Director of Water and Wastewater Services and must have the professional
management experience, technical knowledge and experience, progressive and
dynamic leadership style to lead a division of 213 employees and interact
effectively with other members of the management team. This position is
responsible for the implementation of a regionalized program for water and
wastewater transmission, treatment and disposal. The successful candidate is
someone who is able to exercise considerable independent judgment in formulating
recommendations concerning water and wastewater treatment facilities in order to
meet service demands in an environmentally sound manner. Work is performed
independently with general supervision by the Director of Water and Wastewater
Services.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited
four (4) year college or university with major course work in civil or
environmental engineering, business or public administration, or a related
field; six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in the administration and
management of regional water and wastewater treatment facilities including
considerable high-level supervisory and administrative experience; or any
equivalent combination of training and experience. NOTE: Applicants must
clearly document direct experience in managing and directing a comparable water
and wastewater operations in a similar organizational environment comparable to
South Florida�s water and wastewater industry.
