DESCRIPTION: This position protects the lives and property of citizens by performing fire suppression of structural, wildland, and aircraft fires, technical rescues, hazardous materials responses, and providing emergency medical care. This employee should be in excellent physical condition and have the ability to remain poised under extremely difficult and hazardous circumstances. Position requires successful completion of a comprehensive 18-month training program, which includes becoming a Relief Driver. Candidates must be age 18 or over with no serious vision problems. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. This employee must possess current Kansas or National Emergency Medical Technician certification, and a
valid Kansas driver’s license.
