COMPENSATION: Annual
Salary Range: $33,444 - $52,776.
The beginning salary is based on a
combination of education, certifications and related work experience. Names of
candidates passing all evaluation phases are placed on an eligible register.
Recency of experience may be a determining factor. Eligibility is valid for a

DESCRIPTION: Essential
Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to
be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and
assigned. Responds to medical/trauma emergencies involving adult and pediatric
patients, motor vehicle accidents, industrial accidents, disasters,
multi-casualty incidents, and performs basic fire fighting and life rescue
duties, etc.; conducts thorough patient assessments, exams and triage; completes
patient care documentation; maintains ambulance inventory; evaluates need for
additional crews; ensures scene safety for the crew as well as the patient;
interacts with public and other public safety workers; attends re-certification
and in-service training classes; communicates with hospitals/physicians via
radio and telephone; conducts vehicle inspections and maintains vehicle.
Work Schedule:
Employees may be required to regularly work on various shifts, weekends and/or
holidays as deemed necessary by the employing department.
Physical
Ability: Successful completion of a job related physical examination by a
County Examining Physician is required. Incumbents of this classification are
subject to random drug and alcohol testing. DeKalb County does not

Minimum
Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Must be Paramedic certified by the
State of Georgia to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), basic cardiac
life support (BCLS), and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certifications.
Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license. Must achieve and
maintain Georgia Basic Firefighter status within six months of employment.
