DESCRIPTION: The City of Sammamish, Washington, is located approximately 12 miles east of Seattle and is a growing city of over 40,000 residents. A blend of small-town atmosphere with suburban character, the City also enjoys a unique core of urban lifestyles and conveniences. The community is characterized by quality neighborhoods, vibrant natural features, and outstanding recreational opportunities. The Parks & Recreation Department has a 2008 General Fund operating budget of $2.8 million, a Capital Projects budget of $4.8 million, and has 8 FTE’s, with an additional 5 Parks Maintenance Workers from the Public Works Department. The Department provides quality recreation programs and parks acquisition, renovation, development, and operation and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities. The Parks Project Manager position manages the planning, design and construction of parks & recreation capital development projects and assists in long-range planning of parks and recreation facilities and trails in the City and adjacent jurisdictions. The Parks Project Manager works under the general supervision of the Deputy Director. The position works independently with the public, consultants, outside agencies, and other City staff members, exercises substantial independent judgment regarding management of capital development projects, and oversees the work of consultants and contractors.

A Bachelor’s degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, construction management, or related field is required, with at least four years of fulltime experience in project planning and construction project management or closely related work.
