DESCRIPTION: Sun
Valley is a city and affluent resort community in central Idaho, adjacent to the
City of Ketchum, in Blaine County. With its great variety of terrain and snow
conditions, Sun Valley has been consistently rated as one of the finest ski
resorts in the United States. Dating from 1936 and known as the nation's first
destination ski resort, Sun Valley offers world class downhill skiing and
snowboarding on one of the country's largest and best mountains. Sun Valley
utilizes the Mayor/Council form of government and provides a full range of
municipal services. The management team is comprised of the City’s Department
Directors who enjoy collegial, cooperative and effective working relationships.
The City Administrator, under direction from the Mayor, performs high level
administrative, technical and professional work in directing and supervising the
administration of city government. The City Administrator manages the day to day
operations and the business affairs of the City.
The City Administrator supervises all departments within the City and provides
leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans.
Subject to the approval of the Mayor, the City Administrator prepares,
maintains, implements and supervises a comprehensive program for all personnel
matters of the City, including a Job Classification and Pay Plan, a Salary
Schedule, and a Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual. The City Administrator
assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget;
performs cost control activities; monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned
areas to assure sound fiscal control, pursuant to the City's Fiscal Policy. A
bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field is required; a
master’s degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8
to 10 years of experience in a comparable public sector agency with at least
five years in a senior management role such as City Administrator/Manager or
Assistant City Administrator/Manager. The City of Sun Valley is an Equal
