DESCRIPTION: Seneca, Kansas (pop. 2,052; $7.5 million budget; 20 FTE), the county seat of Nemaha County is located a few miles from Nebraska on U.S. 36, is an idyllic community located in the rolling hills of northeastern Kansas. Seneca operates under a mayor-council form of government, manages its own electric, water and stormwater utilities. The ideal applicant will have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a related field, Master’s Degree (preferred) and at least three years of municipal government experience. Seneca is seeking a professional leader who possesses excellent public relations and personnel management skills. Candidates must be able to create a budget that reflects in-depth knowledge of municipal finance; demonstrates a strong work ethic; and an ability to delegate responsibility. This team-oriented leader will promote economic development initiatives; transparency in government; positive public relations; and should be adept in researching and analyzing policy and grants.
