The Department Directors of Police, Public Works, Recreation, Finance, and
Building report directly to the City Administrator, as delegated by the Mayor.
The City Administrator is responsible for making recommendations and
implementing financial programs and policies, submitting a balanced budget to
the Mayor and Council, and creating and maintaining effective strategic and
comprehensive land use and capital facility program improvements. The City
Administrator also serves as the City’s Planning Director and is the City’s SEPA
(State Environmental Policy Act) Official. This important responsibility is
supported by a development review team including the City Attorney, Building,
Public Works, and professional contracted planning services. Candidates should
have six years of administrative/management experience; municipal experience is
highly desirable. A complete four year university education or equivalent is
required. A Master’s Degree in public administration or business management is
