DESCRIPTION: Osawatomie (pop. 4,266; $13.5 million budget; 54 FTE’s), is a family-oriented community with a rich history, is seeking a city manager. Located just south of the Kansas City metro, Osawatomie is committed to local growth and economic development. The City Manager reports to a progressive nine-member Council, oversees all departments and manages the day-to-day operations of the city. The city operates its own electric generating and distribution system and provides water/wastewater utilities. The City Manager is responsible for preparing the city budget, attending council meetings, management of personnel, policy development, coordination of strategic planning and keeping the council informed on all city matters.
The ideal applicant will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or related field, Master’s Degree preferred and at least five years of municipal-government experience. The successful candidate will have meaningful municipal-government, electric utility, and organizational experience, while demonstrating open communication, professionalism, and confidence. The city seeks a leader who understands and engages the community with integrity and accessibility, while working to form a strategy for continued success in Osawatomie.
