DESCRIPTION:The City of Independence, Kansas  (Pop. 8958; $23 million budget; 120 FTE’s), located in Southeast Kansas, is seeking a City Manager with a strong degree of professionalism and open communication. Who will supervise the day-to-day activities of all employees, update the commission regarding city finances, and communicate directives from the city commission to the city staff. The commission seeks candidates with strong interpersonal skills who can communicate well with citizens, businesses, the city commission, and city staff. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field; master’s degree preferred, and at least ten years of local government experience.
