DESCRIPTION:  Caldwell, Kansas (pop. 998; $2.1M budget; 11 FTE’s), is seeking a community-oriented City Administrator to guide the city’s continued growth. The city is home to a thriving public library, a high-quality medical center, an excellent education system, and numerous historic attractions.

The City Administrator reports to a progressive three-member commission and oversees the day-to-day operations of the city.  The City Administrator is responsible for researching information on policy making, and coordinates direction from the governing body to the city staff.

The governing body is looking for dynamic candidates who possess excellent public relations and personnel management skills. Must be able to create a budget that reflects the values of the governing body, and effectively delegate responsibilities to city staff. This team-oriented leader will promote economic development initiatives, transparency in government, and positive intergovernmental relations. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field, and at least five years of local government or related experience is preferred.
