DESCRIPTION:  The City of Pratt, Kansas (pop. 6,630; $24M budget; 95 FTE’s), is seeking a Finance Director/City Treasurer to be a key financial strategist for the City who will continue to support a collaborative and transparent organizational culture outstanding customer service, and on-going cost-effective municipal operations.

Pratt is located on highways U.S.54 / 400, U.S. 281 and K-61 is the area's regional center for: agriculture, cultural activities, higher education, industry, medical care, outdoor recreation and shopping. The City, strives to provide the best services possible to its citizens, providing water, sewer, trash and electric services, and proudly maintaining 270 acres of parks and recreation facilities. City of Pratt operates under the Commission-Manager form of government.  This at will position, serving at the pleasure of the City Manager, will be responsible for managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the Finance Department. With an annual budget of approximately $24 million, the Finance Director will work closely with the City Manager and the Leadership Team to formulate and implement city-wide fiscal and administrative policies.  Key responsibilities of this position are the management of all finance department functions, including budgeting, financial reporting and forecasting, accounting, risk management, and municipal court.

Ideal candidates will have proven experience supervising personnel and managing government finance and/or city administration, an outgoing personality, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to customer service excellence.  This position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a closely related field; five (5) years’ experience managing government financial operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
