DESCRIPTION: This position performs technical and professional planning duties in support of the Planning Program and Land Development Services for the City of Wilson.

Qualifications: Applicant must have knowledge of the principles and practices of city planning; local, state, and federal codes, and regulations.  Must have knowledge of research methodology and statistical procedures.   Must be proficient in the use of computers and GIS Applications, including ArcView, ArcMap, and ArcInfo.  Must have demonstrated the ability to illustrate planning and design concepts; plan, organize, and make decisions; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Must have also demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city employees, officials, and the public; and deal firmly and tactfully with vendors, builders, contractors, and consultants.

A Bachelors degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or related field with experience writing comprehensive, small area, and neighborhood plans, and plan implementation through development of zoning and subdivision regulations.  Applicants with at least five years experience will be preferred.  (Applicant with less than the minimum qualifications listed may be considered and hired as a Planner, Salary Range: $38,149 - $57,224.)  A valid Drivers License is required.
