DESCRIPTION: Located in the State Capital (Sacramento), the Department of General Services (DGS) is recruiting for the top Procurement Officer for the State of California and the 7th largest economy in the World. Under the direction of the Director of General Services, the Procurement Officer functions as the Deputy Director, Procurement Division and is responsible for providing executive level guidance and direction to the Strategic Sourcing Program and Acquisition Branch, Resources Management Section, External Operations Branch, and the Statewide Policy and Training Branch. This senior executive position participates in the formulation of DGS policy that impacts 147 State Agencies’ purchasing power, is involved with the day-to-day operations of the Procurement Division, and has the full authority to act in the absence of the Director. This confident “hands on,” creative and innovative leader is directly responsible for 230 staff and a budget of $39 million.
